LASU warns against transacting with fake accounts

by ajibolaaina February 17, 2022
written by ajibolaaina

The university’s management has been alerted to the persistent proliferation of online platforms – websites and blogs – with names that have been unscrupulously cloned after the university’s with the intent of luring unsuspecting clients of the university into transacting with the operators for monetary gain.

A component of the names of such platforms would typically include the letters “LASU.”

Those who do business with the university – prospective students, their parents, current and former students, alumni, partner organizations, and the general public – should exercise caution while transacting official business with such platforms, according to the university’s administration.

According to university records, the school’s website is www.lasu.edu.ng, and it is through this and the school’s official social media sites that the most reliable information about official processes may be found, as well as from other sources.

In order to avoid any misunderstanding, the following are the official social media platforms of the university:

LASU Information: https://www.facebook.com/lasuinformation
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/invites/contact/?id=1sbbrgmutopc5&utm content=h7qp1g

The LASU Official Twitter account is: https://mobile.twitter.com/LASUOfficial

YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBPUTZO wrAfHCGemNTbOyw/videos/UCBPUTZO wrAfHCGemNTbOyw

It is consequently recommended that everyone involved double-checks all information pertaining to the University on this platform before taking any action.

VIDEO SHOWING LASU SENATE BUILDING ON FIRE FAKE

by ajibolaaina February 17, 2022
written by ajibolaaina

A video making the rounds ostentsibly showing Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building of the University on fire has been brought to our attention.

We wish to state clearly that the video is fake and totally unfounded. We regard this as nothing but the handiwork of some unscrupulous fellows with wild and vile imagination seeking to create unnecessary tension in the minds of members of the University Community and the general public.

We therefore advise that the video should be disregarded in its entirely and should not be validated any further by being shared/forwarded to others.

We are LASU, we are great.

JUPEB exonerates DELSU over alleged participation in examination malpractice

by ajibolaaina February 16, 2022
written by ajibolaaina

The administration of Delta State University (DELSU) has clarified the circumstances behind the university’s recent suspension by the Joint Universities preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) due to the university’s involvement in test fraud.

As a result of alleged widespread examination malpractices, the official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak with journalists on the subject, stated on Monday evening that DELSU’s delisting from the affiliated member list and JUPEB’s cancellation of the 2021 preliminary examinations held at the school “was a miscarriage of justice.”

“The case has been evaluated by JUPEB, and it has been determined that DELSU was not one of the institutions implicated in exam malpractice,” the source added.

DELSU has been exonerated, he continued, adding that “the institution (DELSU) is anticipating JUPEB’s letter confirming the new development this week.”

It’s possible that the letter will be released tomorrow or the next day. As a result, there is no longer any concern about DELSU JUPEB. In his submission, he stated that “we were never implicated in malpractice and that we had to protest that there must be a miscarriage of justice.”

The institution’s JUPEB Director, according to another source, did not attend the virtual meeting where the delisting decision was reached, so there was no one from the institution to speak on its behalf at that forum.

“The situation has been addressed. Despite the source’s insistence, “we were never implicated in malpractice.”

Following a virtual meeting, the PUNCH learned that JUPEB had written a letter to DELSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga, which was dated January 25, 2022, and addressed to him.

“Following the report received from the investigative panel regarding the conduct of the 2021 JUPEB examinations, the academic board and the JUPEB governing board approved that the indicted universities be delisted as affiliate members of JUPEB for a period of five years and that the results of the examinations conducted in these universities be cancelled due to widespread malpractices,” the letter stated in part.

“Delta State University is one of the indicted universities; as a result, the Vice-Chancellor is hereby advised of the approval of the JUPEB governing board,” the letter continued.

In addition, the governing board of JUPEB is dissatisfied with the outcome of the event, which was brought about by the inadequate conduct of examinations at the university.”

As a result, at an emergency meeting conducted on January 25, 2022, the governing board of JUPEB directed that all students presently enrolled in the 2021/2022 session of the program at your university be transferred to the nearest associate university in order to appear for the JUPEB tests in 2022.

It is envisaged that the Vice-Chancellor will decide and communicate to the registrar JUPEB, the neighboring JUBEB authorized university where the registered students can complete their program studies and sit for the 2022 tests.
