Dennis Osadebay Varsity to resume academic activities Feb.

by ajibolaaina February 3, 2022
written by ajibolaaina

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State Governor, has announced that Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, will begin full academic operations before the end of February 2022.

Okowa announced this while fielding questions from journalists shortly after viewing current construction projects at the new university, as well as the Secretary to the State Government’s (SSG) and Chief of Staff’s offices and residential apartments.

He stated that all courses provided during the first year had been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), and that about 500 students had been admitted to pursue various courses accredited by the institution.

According to him, the exercise will result in the admission of additional students who meet the admission standards for approved university courses.

The governor, who examined the administration building, vice chancellor’s lodge, colleges of environmental science and agriculture, and the university’s gate house, expressed pleasure with the contractors’ performance thus far.

Okowa stated that the administrative building and vice chancellor’s lodge would be completed in March 2022, while the faculty of environmental science would be completed in February.

The governor, who hailed the college of agriculture as “the star project,’’ said it would be completed in October, this year, while building of roads connecting various faculties was on schedule.

He reported that that faculty of Agricultural will accommodate a 500-seater auditorium and two 250-sitting-capacity auditoriums, including the faculty building.

“So, for the Dennis Osadebay University, a lot has been done. We are delighted with the progress of work documented in the university and l do hope that in the beginning of April, there will be a difference in that campus. For now, it is no longer appearing like a glorified primary school,” he continued.
