A kidnapped Bethel student refuses to return home, claims that he is at ease with the bandits.

by ajibolaaina February 7, 2022
written by ajibolaaina

In spite of repeated attempts to rescue him from captivity, one of the 121 pupils from Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna State who were abducted with their classmates on July 5, 2021, has allegedly refused to return to his family.

In an interview with Rev Joseph John Hayab, the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), who made the announcement, the student stated that he feels comfortable with the bandits who kidnapped him and does not want to be reunited with his family.

It has been reported that the bandits were throwing gifts on the youngster, who is believed to be the youngest of all the abducted students, each time they went out and returned from operations, causing him to refuse the option of freedom from the captors.

It was also alleged that the bandits had approached the student on multiple occasions and begged him to accompany them home, but he refused each time, claiming that his parents always beat him at home.

More than six months after their abduction, all but one of the abducted students have regained their freedom, with the exception of one who has now elected to remain with the bandits rather than return home to his family.

Delta State Teachers Recruitment 2026: Apply for State Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education Vacancies

by ajibolaaina February 5, 2022
written by ajibolaaina

The Delta State Government, under its commitment to the MORE Agenda, is officially inviting applications from qualified indigenes and residents for the 2026/2027 Teacher Recruitment exercise. This year’s recruitment focuses heavily on filling gaps in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), and Vocational subjects across the state’s technical colleges and secondary schools.

Key Recruitment Guidelines for 2026

1. Digital First Application

All applications must be submitted via the official Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau or the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MOBSE) Portal.

  • Click the ‘START APPLICATION’ button to begin.

  • Important: Your NIN (National Identification Number) is now a mandatory field for data validation with NIMC.

2. Bio-Data & Contact Accuracy

Ensure your Mobile Number and Email Address are functional. In 2026, the recruitment portal uses Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Your login credentials and interview schedule will be sent exclusively to these contact points.

3. Inclusivity (Special Needs)

In line with the Delta State People with Disability Law, applicants are encouraged to truthfully state any disabilities. The state government has committed to a 5% quota for qualified persons with disabilities (PWDs) to ensure an inclusive workforce.

4. Mandatory Document Uploads

Ensure you have clear, scanned PDF copies (not exceeding 500kb) of the following:

  • Academic Certificates: FSLC, WASSCE/SSCE, and Degree/NCE Certificates.

  • TRCN Certificate: For 2026, registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is mandatory for all professional teaching roles.

  • NYSC Documentation: Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion certificate.

  • Tertiary Education: You are required to state your First Degree/NCE qualification. If you have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), ensure it is uploaded in the “Professional Qualification” section.

  • Post Applied For: Ensure the subject you apply for matches your area of specialization on your degree. The 2026 system uses automated filtering; a mismatch will lead to instant disqualification.

  • The 14-Day Rule: You have exactly 336 hours (14 days) from the moment you start your application to make corrections.

The Kebbi State Government has supported 117 students to study at three universities in India through its scholarship program. The scholarship recipients were chosen by a committee chaired by Prof Muktar Umar Bunza, the state Commissioner for Higher Education.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu addressed the students at a goodbye meal organized by the state government, urging them to be excellent ambassadors for the state and Nigeria as they make their way to their respective universities.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, noting that while this is not the first time the state has sponsored students abroad, this time was different because the state was able to mobilize and send the students despite economic constraints.
