Hello everyone! Welcome back to MBAKen. I hope you are all doing well. Today’s topic is incredibly important because it involves your hard-earned money and your future: the Dr. DY Patil Online MBA admission process and, more importantly, how to identify a genuine admission counselor versus a third-party scammer.

I am writhing this blog post because many of you commented about the process, and sadly, some shared that they were scammed by people claiming to be university officials who turned out to be unauthorized third parties. Please do not skip any part of this post; one missed point could lead to a major mistake.

The Golden Rule of Counselor Verification

Before we dive into the DY Patil process, remember this: the method to verify a counselor is the same whether you are applying to Amity, Manipal, Jain, Chandigarh University, or any other online MBA program.

How to Identify a Genuine Counselor

  1. The Inquiry Form: Start by filling out the official inquiry form on the university website. Use a number that has WhatsApp, as most official communication happens there.

  2. The Official Email: After filling the form, the university will assign you a counselor. You will receive an automated email and a WhatsApp message.

    • Check the Domain: Genuine emails from Dr. DY Patil will come from an address ending in @dpu.edu.in or @collegedunia.com (their official tech partner).

    • The Assignment Message: My assigned counselor was Komal Patle. The university sent me her name and official contact number immediately.

  3. Cross-Verification: If someone calls you before you get the email, ask for their full name and email address. Then, wait for the university’s automated “Counselor Assigned” email to see if the names match.

Spotting Third-Party “Scams”

Third parties often have agreements to share data, but they operate on commission. They might tell you: “That counselor isn’t on our team” or “We provide better placement support.” My Experience: A person named “Deepak Sharma” called me claiming to be a senior manager. When I asked him to email me from the official admission@dpu.edu.in ID, he made excuses about server issues. Genuine university staff will always have access to their official email. If they ask for your email address despite you already filling the form, it’s a red flag—they don’t have the internal university data.

The Step-by-Step Admission Process

Step 1: Registration & Authentication

Once you’ve verified your counselor, they will provide a link, or you can go to the Official Dr. DY Patil Online Admission Portal.

  • ABC ID/DEB ID: You will now need to create a unique ID (Academic Bank of Credits). This is a new mandatory requirement for Indian higher education.

Step 2: Filling the Application

Log in and enter your 10th, 12th, and Graduation details. You will need to:

  • Upload your photo and ID proofs (Aadhar/PAN).

  • Select your initial specialization (though you can usually finalize this in your final year).

Step 3: Fee Payment

After filling the details, the payment portal will open.

  • Counselor Support: This is where a genuine counselor is vital. When I paid via bank transfer, the portal didn’t update immediately. My counselor, Komal, contacted the finance team and had it updated within 5 minutes. A fake counselor will likely stop picking up your calls once the money is sent.

Step 4: Document Verification & LMS Access

After payment, the university verifies your uploaded documents. Once approved:

  1. You will receive a “Welcome Mail” with your LMS (Learning Management System) credentials.

  2. You will get an email about your assigned Mentor.

  3. You will be added to the official WhatsApp group.

  4. Books: Physical books are shipped to your address (usually arriving within a week).

Final Advice

The July 2026 Batch admissions are currently open! If you are planning to join, follow this verified path. Don’t be in a hurry—take 2–3 days to verify everything before paying.
