TASUED SUG on the extension of school fee payment deadline

by ajibolaaina March 20, 2022
written by ajibolaaina

A follow-up to the letter sent by university administration of Tai Solarin University of Education on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, which stated that the deadline for school fee payment for students in the 100 level will be on the 18th of March, 2022.

We recognized this as a hurdle for many of our students who are financially disadvantaged as a result of the state of our beloved nation, which hasn’t compelled them to take the required steps.

With a persuasive approach to the appropriate quarters, we have been successful in obtaining an extension of this deadline, which will allow our students to complete their payments and avoid forfeiture of their Studentship.

Today, March 15, 2022. I’m writing to inform you that your humble request has been granted, and the deadline has been extended to Friday, March 25, 2022, as previously agreed upon.

We strongly encourage all affected students to take advantage of this abundant chance to submit their payments while also taking advantage of the strike time.

The university’s administration wishes to notify all candidates who have previously applied on the portal for the pickup of their certificates and transcripts, prior to the revision of the payment schedule, that they must re-apply on the portal.

Apart from ensuring that all applications receive enough consideration, the necessity for this will also serve to demonstrate the new payment regime recently authorized by the university Management.

You have 72 hours opt out of ASUU strike – LAUTECH students to Lecturers

by ajibolaaina March 19, 2022
written by ajibolaaina

In a letter to academics at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, the Student Union has given them 72 hours to decide whether or not to withdraw from the current strike being carried out by the Academic Staff Union.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) went on a four-week warning strike on February 14 in protest at the Federal Government’s refusal to fulfill the 2009 agreements it signed with the union and the rot in universities. On March 14, the union announced that it will prolong the strike for a further eight weeks.

Anuoluwa Adeboye, the President of the Student Union of LAUTECH, and Gabriel Michael, the Public Relations Officer, issued a statement on Friday in which they stated students at the university had suffered unfairly due to prior frequent strike activities.

They went on to say that the protracted strike had also prevented the school’s recent graduates from being mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps orientation program, which was scheduled to begin in March.

The students said that they had requested a conversation with the ASUU, LAUTECH chapter about why the union had decided to participate in the national strike, but that the organization had refused to engage with them on the subject.

“In light of this, if by now the leadership of ASUU LAUTECH is unable to honour the open dialogue address from the Student Union between ASUU LAUTECH and LAUTECH students, and they are claiming to be fighting for the Ladokites’ interests at the federal level, we are saying enough is enough.” The statement continued, ”

The leadership of ASUU LAUTECH has been given 72 hours to take a leaf out of the book of ASUU KWASU, which wrote a special letter to the national ASUU based on the peculiarity of their institution, and to opt out of the current strike; otherwise, the Student Union will be left with no choice but to see ASUU LAUTECH as a sabotage to the progress of LAUTECH and Ladokites due to their selfish interest.”
