The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is a military school founded in 1977 as NAF Technical and Supply School (TSS). After the Nigerian civil war outbreak, skilled manpower was required to maintain several aircraft and associated weapon systems. For manpower development, the Nigerian Air Force depended on foreign assistance. NAF initiated the idea to establish an indigenous Technical and Supply School.

Also known as the Nigeria Air Force University, the institute is situated in Nigerian Air Force Base, Kawo, Kaduna State. It has been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to award undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. AFIT has also been accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), and Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN). The institute provides basic training in avionics, aeronautics, aerospace engineering, and mechatronics engineering

Air Force Institute of Technology has graduated over 5,689 persons. It includes civilians and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, and Nigerian Army.

Air Force Institute of Technology Kaduna Post UTME 2020

Air Force Institute of Technology Post UTME screening was conducted on 7-11 December 2020.

The following were the requirements for the Post UTME screening:

  • UTME and JAMB DE candidates who selected Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, as their first institution are eligible to apply. Those who did not choose the institution as their first institution will have to apply for a change of institution with JAMB.
  • Candidates must meet the admission requirements stated on the institution’s portal.
  • UTME candidates must score 140 and above in the 2020 UTME. Degree candidates must also score 180 and above in the 2020 UTME.

UTME and JAMB DE candidates are required to pay a screening fee of two thousand naira. Pre-HND, HND, and post-graduate candidates are required to pay a screening fee of ten thousand naira.

  • After payment has been successful, students can print the payment receipt by clicking on ‘Print Receipt.’

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, formerly known as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Centre, is an institute located in Zaria, Kaduna State. The institute is funded by the Civil Aviation Department in the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Aviation.

Founded in 1964, the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology commenced operations in 1966. The International Civil Aviation Organization and the United Nations Development Programme provided technical support to the institute.

Designed as a training center for aircraft maintenance engineers, Nigerian and African pilots, and a host of others, the institute also created air traffic services and communications school, a flying school, and so much more. The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology commenced specialized training courses in jet simulation, instrument landing, airline transport, etc., in the late 1970s. The institute also admitted its first female student in 1977.

Through affiliation with a foreign university, the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology sought to become a degree-awarding institution. It graduated about 6,500 students in 2010.

The institute’s mission is “to consistently provide the aviation industry with professionals and other personnel through training and related services for safe transportation in accordance with international standards.”

The following steps will guide you in making payment into the NCAT TSA Account

  • Log on to the REMITA website: remita.net
  • Select ‘pay FN and state TSA’
  • Click on ‘FGN: Federal Government of Nigeria’
  • Select ‘AVIATION’ and click on ‘Nigeria College of Aviation Technology.’
  • Choose the service you want to make payment for, the purpose of making the payment, and the amount you are paying.
  • Click ‘Submit.’ Generate the RRR, which can be made using an ATM card or by visiting a bank.
  • After making payment, print the transaction receipt. Afterwards, submit to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology revenue office for the official receipt.

Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Admission Requirements

NCAT Diploma Programme

  • Candidates should possess a minimum of five (5) credits in relevant subjects (including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics) at O’ Level.

National Diploma (ND) Programme

  • Candidates should possess at least five credits in relevant subjects (including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English Language) at O’ Level.
  • Candidates are required to have obtained at least 180 in JAMB. Candidates who did not choose the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology as their first institution choice but met the cut-off mark are eligible to apply.

Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of Lower Credit Pass in National Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Aircraft Engineering Technology. They should also possess at least one year Post ND cognate working experience.
  • Candidates should have obtained a National Diploma in Aviation Management/Business Administration, Public Administration. They should possess at least 2.50 CGPA in their National Diploma programmes. Candidates should also possess a minimum of one year of cognate working experience.

Post Graduate Diploma

Air Traffic Safety Electronics Engineering

  • Candidates must possess Higher National Diploma (HND) or BSc. in Electrical/Electronics. They can also possess NCAT Diploma and Professional License or its equivalent.

Aviation Management PGDAM (Full time)

Candidates should have obtained either of the following education qualifications:

  • Minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) or BSc. from a recognized institution. They should also possess at least two years of working experience.
  • NCAT Diploma and Professional License or its equivalent with at least two years of working experience.

Aviation Management (Part time)

Candidates should have obtained either of the following education qualifications:

  • Minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) or BSc. from a recognized institution. Candidates should also have a minimum of two years working experience.
  • NCAT Diploma and Professional License with at least two years of experience.

The course is designed with the purpose of training participants to become experts in the air transport industry. A team of seasoned instructors will train participants to develop the proficiency and skills required for them to obtain the following: ICAO-recognized Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR), and Multi-Engine Rating (ME) from the Nigerian CAA.

Nigeria Defence Academy: Requirements, Recruitment, Form, and More

The Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, was founded in 1964. It is a military university established in response to defence needs, to train officers for commissioning into the Armed Forces of Nigeria: The Air Force, the Army, and the Navy.

Officers are trained at the Nigerian Defence Academy for a duration of 5 years (4 Academic years and 1 Military year).

Before NDA was established, the institution was previously known as the Royal Military Forces Training College (RMFTC). In 1960, after Nigeria’s Independence, it was renamed the Nigerian Military Training College.

The Nigeria Defence Academy is targeted at equipping officers with skills, knowledge, and values that are required for being a military officer through military and academic training. Another key goal of NDA is to produce officers who are well-versed in both academic and military exercises.

NDA offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to military and civilian students. It is the only accredited military university in Nigeria that offers programmes to students who want to become military officers.

Nigeria Defence Academy 72rc (72nd Regular Combatant Course)

Applicants who are seeking admission into the Nigeria Defence Academy 72nd regular combatant course for the 2020/2021 academic session are invited to apply.

The sale of the online application commenced on the 5th of December, 2019, and ended on the 14th of May, 2020.

The NDA screening test, which was held on the 16th of May, 2020, was conducted as the first stage of the Post UTME screening.

Candidates must score a minimum of 180 for faculties of Science and Military Science, Arts, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Social Sciences in JAMB UTME. Candidates seeking admission in the Faculty of Engineering must score a minimum of 210 in JAMB UTME.

Successful candidates admitted for Regular Course will be trained as Officer Cadets for a period of 4 years for the Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Navy and 5 years for Nigerian Army Cadets.

After successfully undergoing military and academic training, they will bag an honors BSc, BA, or BEng degree. They will also earn a Presidential Commission into the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Cadet Officers are trained at the Nigeria Defence Academy for 5 years (4 Academic years and 1 Military year).

Army Cadets are trained for 5 years while Air Force and Naval Cadets are trained for a period of 4 years. At their respective training colleges, the cadet officers complete the remaining 1year training.

Just like other universities in Nigeria, successful candidates will bag a bachelor’s degree in their respective disciplines. They will, however, be distributed in the Armed Forces in the Nigerian Navy, Air Force, and Army.

 How to Join NDA

To join the Nigeria Defence Academy, one would need to purchase an online application form. To apply, candidates should visit the application portal, ndaapplications.net, to log in. Select ‘Purchase Access Code’ and complete the details.

The application attracts a cost of N35,000.  Applicants should make payment via REMITA. Anyone seeking admission must have applied for the JAMB UTME and chosen NDA as their first choice.

Applicants must submit the scanned copies of their SSCE results along with the application forms. Upon submission, they are required to download an ‘Acknowledgement Form.’

Afterwards, candidates will be invited for Stage 1 of the Post UTME screening; which is the screening test. They are required to bring relevant documents to the test centre; including Acknowledgement Form, JAMB Result Slip, Screening Test Admission Card, and two postcard size photographs.

Candidates that are successful in the first stage will be invited to Stage 2 of the screening test. Candidates, whose name was published on the list of admitted candidates, will appear before the Armed Forces Selection Board (AFSB).

Below are the requirements for admission into the NDA degree programmes.

  • Candidates must be physically and medically fit.
  • Must be single and without legal obligations.
  • Must be at least 17 years of age and not more than 21 years old.
  • Must present a certificate of indigeneship.
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 credits, in relevant subjects in O’ Level. This should be obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
  • Must not be less than 1.65 meters tall for females and 1.68 for males.
  • Must have passed the JAMB UTME.
  • Candidates who can speak Arabic, French, or mandarin, have an added advantage.
