If Manipal University Jaipur is a good option for an online MBA, why did I end up choosing Amity University Online instead?
That was one of the questions I kept asking myself when I was comparing online MBA programs. On paper, both universities have a lot going for them. But after looking at the fees, learning format, study materials, support, location, and what I personally wanted from an MBA, I eventually decided that Amity was a better fit for me.
Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! My name is Ajibola, and I am currently pursuing my Online MBA from Amity University Online. I started this blog because choosing an online university is not always as straightforward as it looks on a university website. There are fees to compare, admission claims to verify, different LMS platforms to understand, and plenty of opinions online that do not necessarily match your own situation.

Manipal vs Amity online mba
I spent quite a bit of time researching these options myself, so in this article I want to explain why I chose Amity over Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ). This is not meant to say that one university is automatically better for everyone. My decision was based on what mattered most to me.
If you are currently comparing the two, I hope my experience gives you another perspective to consider before making your own decision.

Manipal University Jaipur vs Amity University Online: What I Compared
Before making my decision, I looked at several things rather than focusing only on the university name. These included recognition, program structure, fees, learning materials, the online learning experience, career support, and how easy it would be for me to have some connection with a physical campus.
| Feature | Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) | Amity University Online |
|---|---|---|
| University | Manipal University Jaipur | Amity University Uttar Pradesh |
| Program Duration | 24 months / 4 semesters | 2 years, subject to the program’s current academic structure |
| MUJ Online MBA Fee | ₹1,80,000 standard program fee listed currently | Check the current fee on the official Amity Online website |
| Application/Registration Fee | ₹500 non-refundable application fee | Check the current admission fee before applying |
| Study Materials | Digital learning materials and e-books | Digital resources and other learning materials; my personal experience also included physical study materials |
| Specializations | Multiple electives/specializations, including areas such as Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations and Analytics | Multiple MBA specialization options depending on the current program structure |
| Career Support | Placement assistance, placement portal, webinars and job opportunities | Career and placement support through the online program |
| Main Campus | Jaipur, Rajasthan | Noida, Uttar Pradesh |
Note: Fees, specializations, admission requirements and career-service features can change. Always verify the current details directly with the universities before paying any application or tuition fee.
1. Recognition and University Reputation
Recognition was one of the first things I checked because I did not want to spend two years and a significant amount of money on a qualification without first understanding how the university and program are recognized.
Manipal University Jaipur describes its online MBA as a UGC-entitled online degree and lists the university as NAAC A+ rated. Its current online MBA page also lists a 24-month duration and several career-focused electives. You can check the current MUJ Online MBA details here.
Amity University Uttar Pradesh is also UGC recognized and has an A+ NAAC accreditation. Its official information also lists its 2025 NIRF position as 22nd in the University category. Amity’s official recognition page is useful if you want to verify its credentials rather than relying on third-party education websites.
One thing I would strongly recommend is checking the recognition of the specific online program and current admission session. University recognition and the details of a particular online program are not always the same thing, so I prefer going directly to official sources before making a payment.
2. Why Location Mattered to Me
This may not matter to everyone, but it mattered to me.
Even though the MBA is online, I did not want my entire university experience to exist behind a laptop screen. I liked the idea of being able to attend events, interact with people connected to the university and, where possible, have access to a physical campus environment.
Manipal University Jaipur is located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, while Amity University Uttar Pradesh’s main campus is in Noida.
Why I chose Amity: I was living closer to the Noida/NCR side, so Amity was simply more practical for me. If I needed to attend an event or wanted some form of face-to-face interaction, the location was more convenient.
This is one of those factors that can easily be overlooked when comparing online universities. If you live nowhere near either campus, location may not make much difference. But for me, it became part of the decision.
3. The LMS and My Learning Experience
Another thing I looked at was the learning platform. An online MBA can involve a lot of reading, recorded lectures, assignments, live sessions and regular interaction with the university, so the LMS becomes a big part of everyday student life.
Manipal University Jaipur
MUJ’s online program is designed around digital learning, with online classes, course materials and academic support. The university also promotes additional digital learning resources and career tools through its online platform.
From the information I reviewed, the platform has a fairly straightforward approach to online study, which may appeal to students who prefer keeping things simple.
Amity University Online
Amity’s online learning environment is more feature-heavy. There are multiple resources available through the platform, and it can take a little time to become familiar with everything when you first start.
For me, the important thing was not simply which LMS looked better. I wanted a platform that gave me enough resources to manage my studies while still fitting around my other responsibilities.
That is an important distinction because an LMS can look impressive during a demo but feel very different once you are actually using it every week.
4. Physical Books Were Surprisingly Important to Me
This was one of the smaller details that ended up having a bigger influence on my decision than I expected.
I personally prefer having something physical to read when I am studying. I like highlighting important sections, writing notes beside a paragraph and going back through a chapter without constantly switching between browser tabs or PDF files.
That is one reason I liked the study-material arrangement I experienced with Amity.
Of course, this is completely personal. If you are comfortable studying entirely from PDFs, e-books and an LMS, then physical books may not matter to you at all.
But if you are someone who still prefers printed textbooks, it is worth asking the university exactly what study materials are included in your particular MBA batch before enrolling.
5. Fees: Look at the Current Numbers, Not Old Articles
Fees are another area where I would be careful when comparing online MBA programs because university websites, blogs and YouTube videos can show figures from completely different admission sessions.
For example, the current MUJ Online MBA page lists the standard course fee at ₹1,80,000, with a separate non-refundable application fee of ₹500. The university also currently displays different payment options and promotional discounts, which can change over time.
Check the current MUJ MBA fee directly on the official website before using any figure you see in a comparison article.
For Amity, I would use the same approach. Rather than quoting an old total from a previous admission cycle, check the current fee shown when you are actually applying.
My advice: don’t compare universities using only the advertised tuition fee. Also check registration charges, examination fees, project fees, taxes where applicable, EMI terms and whether a scholarship or discount is conditional.
6. Specializations and Course Options
Another difference I noticed was the range of specializations and electives.
MUJ currently lists a broad selection of MBA electives and specializations, including areas such as Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Operations Management, International Business, Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Digital Marketing, IT and FinTech, and others.
This is useful if you already have a particular career direction in mind and want your MBA to be closely connected to that area.
However, I did not choose a university based on the number of specializations alone. A long list of specializations does not automatically mean that every option will be equally suitable for every student.
I looked at what I actually wanted to learn and whether the overall learning experience suited me.
7. Placement and Career Support
Career support was another area I compared, but I also learned to be careful with the word “placement.”
MUJ currently advertises placement assistance, an AI-powered placement portal, mock interviews, job opportunities, webinars and placement drives on its official online MBA page.
Amity also provides career and placement support to its online learners.
However, I would not treat access to a placement portal as a guarantee of getting a job. Your previous education, work experience, skills, interview performance and the actual job market all matter.
For me, the useful question was not simply, “Which university promises more placements?” Instead, I wanted to know what career resources I would actually be able to use while studying.
8. What Ultimately Made Me Choose Amity?
After putting everything together, my decision became much simpler.
I chose Amity because it fitted my circumstances better.
- Location: Being closer to Noida/NCR made the physical university environment more accessible to me.
- Study materials: I personally prefer having physical books available rather than relying entirely on digital material.
- Learning environment: I liked the overall combination of online learning resources and student support available to me.
- Personal comfort: After comparing the options, I simply felt that Amity’s setup suited the way I wanted to study.
None of these points means that every student should make the same decision.
Someone living in another part of India may have completely different priorities. Another student may care more about the lowest total cost. Someone else may want a particular specialization that is available at MUJ but not at another university.
That is why I think it is better to ask, “Which university fits my situation?” rather than simply asking, “Which university is better?”
So, Should You Choose MUJ or Amity?
If you are currently stuck between Manipal University Jaipur and Amity University Online, I would suggest making a simple list of the things that actually matter to you.
- What is your maximum budget?
- Which MBA specialization do you want?
- Do you prefer printed books or digital materials?
- How important is physical campus access?
- How much support do you expect from the university?
- Are you studying alongside a full-time job?
- What type of career support are you realistically looking for?
- Have you checked the current program recognition and fee structure yourself?
Once you answer those questions honestly, the choice becomes much more personal and much less about following someone else’s recommendation.

My Final Thoughts
Looking back, I don’t think my decision came down to one university being perfect and the other being a bad option.
Both have features that can appeal to different kinds of students. What mattered to me was finding a program that matched my budget, location, preferred way of studying and expectations for the MBA experience.
I am currently pursuing my MBA with Amity University Online, so I will continue sharing my experience as I move through the program—including the things I like, the things that frustrate me, and anything I think prospective students should know before enrolling.
If you are considering either MUJ or Amity, don’t make your decision because of one review, one YouTube video or one counselor’s recommendation. Take the information, verify the important details on the official university websites, and then decide based on your own circumstances.
