Understanding the Online MBA Audience

Universities like Amity, NMIMS, and Symbiosis cater to three main types of students:

1. Working Professionals: Those seeking a “Professional Hike”—not just in salary, but in better designations, promotions, and stability.

2. Freshers: Recent graduates who didn’t get their desired placement during their undergraduate studies and are looking for a brand name to kickstart their careers.

3. Freelancers: Skilled individuals seeking stability and a formal professional credential to move into corporate roles.

Is an Online MBA Valid?

Before we talk about placements, let’s clear one thing up: An online MBA from a reputed university like Amity is 200% valid and globally accepted. It is not just a degree; it is a gateway to “Internal Job Postings” (IJPs) in MNCs like Dell and Deloitte. Many students pursue this degree solely to become eligible for higher-level roles within their current organizations.

The Reality of Placement Support

Many students feel “abandoned” after admission because they were recruited by third-party agencies or freelance counselors who focus on sales rather than post-admission support. It is crucial to choose an authentic counselor who will guide you through the LMS, assignments, and exams over the full two years.

When Do Placements Start?

While some counselors claim they start in the first semester, at Amity, placements generally begin in the Third Semester.

How the Process Works

It is a common misconception that you sit with on-campus students for placements. Online MBA placements are completely virtual. Here is how the workflow looks:

1. University Email: Upon admission, you get a dedicated email (e.g., name@amityonline.com). You must keep this logged in on your phone and Gmail.

2. Direct Invitations: The university sends emails detailing participating companies, designations, salary packages, and eligibility criteria.

3. LMS Career Portal: You apply through the “Careers” section on your Learning Management System (LMS).

4. Virtual Interviews: Interviews are conducted via video calls. Only in very rare cases (usually the final round) will a company ask for a face-to-face meeting.

The “Skill” Factor: Degree vs. Capability

Don’t rely solely on the Amity brand or your degree. A recruiter won’t give you a 15-20 LPA package just because you paid your fees.
