Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta: A Detailed Guide

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, popularly known as FUNAAB, is one of the federal government-owned higher institutions in Nigeria.

Founded in 1988, FUNAAB was established by the Federal Government after the merger of four universities of technology in 1984. Afterwards, two universities of agriculture were established by the Federal Government in Makurdi and Abeokuta.

Before the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, the Federal Government founded the Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta, in 1983. It was merged with the University of Lagos in 1984. Before the demerger of 1988, the institution’s name was changed to the College of Science and Technology, Abeokuta (COSTAB).

Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta Post UTME

Applicants, interested in gaining admission into FUNAAB, are invited to apply for the 2020/2021 screening exercise.

To be eligible for the Post UTME screening, applicants must:

  • Have chosen the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta as their first institution choice with JAMB.
  • Must possess a minimum of five credits, in relevant subjects, in O’ Level (SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB). This must be obtained in not more than two sittings.
  • Must fill the application form online before its stipulated deadline.

Guidelines in Applying for the Post UTME at FUNAAB.

  • To access the Admission Portal, kindly visit, http://admission.unaab.edu.ng/. Click on ‘Apply for Admission.’ To generate and print out your Application Invoice, fill in your JAMB UTME. The Application Invoice reveals your Reference Number and details on the payment of the N2,000 non-refundable fee.
  • Candidates should pay online using internet banking or debit card, or visit a bank that accepts REMITA payment. Using the REMITA Reference Number, pay the stated fee.
  • Candidates must proceed to the FUNAAB Admission Portal after payment, to complete the e-application form.
  • Application for the Post UTME screening commences on September 7, 2020, and ends on December 4, 2020.
  • Candidates must input their bio-data and O’ Level results correctly. A coloured passport photograph should also be uploaded.
  • Candidates should preview and confirm these details before uploading. Once this has been confirmed, click ‘Submit.’
  • Candidates should print out the Application Form which displays their passport photograph.
  • There is a penalty for correcting incorrect data. This costs N1,000.

The total fees for new students for the 2020/2021 academic session is N62,750. This includes acceptance fee, accommodation fee, library fee, ICT fee, and a host of others.

ATBU Bauchi: A Brief History and Background

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, popularly known as ATBU, is a federal university of Nigeria named after the first Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

Established in Bauchi in the year 1980, ATBU was previously named Federal University of Technology, Bauchi.

ATBU’s motto is ‘Doctrina Mater Artium.’ This means ‘Education is the mother of the practical arts.’

In October 1981, the institution admitted its first set of students for remedial and pre-degree programmes. In October 1982, the School of Science and Science Education began degree courses.

The university merged with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, on the 1st of October, 1984. Its name was changed to Abubakar Balewa College, Ahmadu Bello University, Bauchi campus.

In 1988, the institution regained its autonomy and its name was changed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

After due consultation with subject experts from Nigeria, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom, ATBU formulated its academic programmes in 1980.

The internationally-recognized university has 6 schools- the School of Technology Education, the School of Engineering, Agriculture, Science, Management Technology, and Environmental Technology. It offers bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees in a wide range of courses.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially accredited most of the courses at ATBU.

Five-Year Degree Programme

Candidates interested in enrolling for this programme must fulfill the entry requirements of the university, including the required five credits in relevant subjects, which must be obtained in not more than two sittings. These subjects include credit in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, and Physics at O’ Level.

Four-Year Programme

Direct entry candidates are required to enroll in the programme’s second year. To qualify, candidates must fulfill the O’Level requirements. This must include passes in Physics and Mathematics at IJMB, A’ level, or its equivalent. A’ level pass in Chemistry is required for Chemical and Petroleum Engineering.

National Diploma holders can be admitted into 200level. Higher National Diploma holders can also be admitted into 300level. These candidates must fulfill the O’ level requirements.

Bayero University Kano: An Overview

Bayero University Kano, popularly known as BUK, is situated in Kano State, Nigeria. Founded in 1975, BUK is the first university situated in Kano State. It was upgraded from university college to a university and was renamed Bayero University College.

Bayero University was initially called Ahmadu Bello College. It was named after Ahmadu Bello; the former Premier of Northern Nigeria.

In January 1960, the Northern Nigeria Ministry of Education founded Ahmadu Bello College to prepare senior secondary certificate holders for A-level and G.C.E in Arabic, Islamic History, English Literature, Hausa, and Islamic Studies.

It was renamed Abdullahi Bayero College after the then Emir of Kano, Abdullahi Bayero. This was done after the establishment of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Faculties in Bayero University include Agriculture, Education, Law, Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Earth and Environmental Science, Management Science, Pharmacy, Engineering, Arts and Islamic Studies, Social, and Clinical Sciences.

Registration for direct entry screening is still ongoing. Below are the guidelines for online registration:

  • Using your Direct Entry number, gender, and state of origin, login to the portal.
  • Update your profile by providing your email address used for JAMB registration, phone number used for JAMB registration, date of birth, next of kin, contact address, LGA, phone number of next of kin, alternate email address, and alternate phone number.
  • Upload your O’ Level results.
  • Upload your A’ Level results.
  • Generate the BUK Personalised Payment Form (BUKPPF).
  • Proceed to payment
  • Print your acknowledgement slip.

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 credit passes in relevant subjects at O’ Level. These subjects must include Mathematics and English Language and must be obtained at not more than 2 sittings.
  • Candidates must score at least 180 in JAMB.
